Song Basket

I remember when my first child was born, I sang to him The Alphabet Song while rocking him one night, because it was the only song I knew.

I put together this PDF of the lyrics of songs that young children typically love. There are some lullabies, most classics, and some fun ones, like the Spiderman theme song.

In my experience, babies of about 7 or 8 months of age start to love nursery rhymes and songs. I think it is one of the best ways to expose them to letter sounds and words. My 3 year old absolutely loves the song basket. He has all of the songs memorized. He sometimes starts singing a song, and as we do activities, we are both humming the song. And, of course, the lullabies can soothe not just babies but moms!

This would make a great gift for a new mom. Simply print out the songs on nice paper such as card stock and cut out the 3″ X 5″ rectangles, and put it in a nice basket.

Please share this with this blog post. Thanks!
